‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ Surprise-Drops First Gargantuan Trailer

Jurassic World: Dominion - Blue, now a mother

We were looking forward to a debut during this Sunday’s Super Bowl, but Universal has already unleashed the first trailer for Jurassic World: Dominion.

This gigantic first official trailer arrives almost three months after Universal shared online the (fantastic) prologue that debuted last summer alongside F9‘s IMAX screenings in the US. It’s been preceded by an odd “Jurassic World: Dominion x Winter Olympics” cross-promotion TV spot that was fully released last week, too.

Without further ado, here’s the trailer, which packs plenty of awe and thrills:

Of course, the biggest moments in the preview are arguably those featuring the original Jurassic Park trio: Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum. They join Jurassic World veterans Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Daniella Pineda, Omar Sy, Justice Smith, Isabella Sermon, and BD Wong. The list of newcomers includes Mamoudou Athie, Dichen Lachman, Campbell Scott, and DeWanda Wise.

The official synopsis reads as follows:

From Jurassic World architect and director Colin Trevorrow, Dominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.

Unsurprisingly, the biggest threats will be coming from corporations and governments mishandling these prehistoric creatures and the genetic material and tech sold in 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom to anyone with deep pockets.

Director and co-writer Colin Trevorrow has already confirmed this won’t end with dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasts taking over the planet — they’re just out-of-time animals looking to fit in a new world unknown to them. Moreover, producer Frank Marshall has mentioned that, in spite of closing a six-film arc, Jurassic World: Dominion won’t mark the end of the entire franchise. The film roars exclusively in theaters on June 10.
