‘Ironheart’ Adds ‘In the Heights’ Star Anthony Ramos in Key Role

Anthony Ramos Ironheart

Usnavi is coming to the MCU! Ironheart, the upcoming Disney Plus series, will mark his first appearance.

According to Deadline, Anthony Ramos (In the Heights) has been cast in a key role in the upcoming Disney Plus series. Details surrounding the character are still vague, but he is set to play a major part in the MCU going forward. From Deadline:

“While details behind the Ramos role are unknown, sources say it will be similar to how Jonathan Majors was introduced as Kang the Conquer in Loki, where he is expected to not only have a big role in this series but in future Marvel projects as well.”

Ironheart was first announced in December 2020, and will star Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a teenage genius with an intellect on par with Tony Stark’s. Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiercer TV series) is the head writer of the show, which could go into production later this year, as casting is already underway.

Riri Williams will not be the only teenager-turned-superhero on Disney Plus, as later this year, Marvel is releasing Ms. Marvel, starring Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel. That show is set to debut on the streaming service between July and September. The next show in the pipeline is Moon Knight, which could be getting a new promo this Sunday during the Super Bowl.

Right after, Marvel Studios will be releasing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 4 — that movie is also expected to follow the tradition of Marvel’s May releases of getting a 30-second Super Bowl ad. Other Disney Plus shows coming this year include She-Hulk, starring Tatiana Maslany, and possibly Secret Invasion, which is currently shooting.

Riri Williams will first debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, set to open in November 2022.
