CW Releases Three Previews and Behind the Scenes Look at ‘Elseworlds’

Elseworlds
Elseworlds has begun, and The CW have released even more tantalizing glimpses into the crossover event, including the moment that Barry Allen and Oliver Queen finally meet Clark Kent!

The first scene reveals the moment that Oliver (Stephen Amell) wakes up to find that he’s living Barry’s life. The confusion on Amell’s face when Iris kisses him is brilliant, and you can certainly see how the role reversal is going to allow for so great comedy moments throughout the crossover. It’s something that plays out in the second scene as well, when Barry learns that Oliver woke up in bed with Iris.

I love Oliver’s reaction to Barry doing the salmon ladder.

But as a Superman fan my favorite scene is definitely the third. It’s the moment that fans have been waiting for as Barry and Oliver finally meet Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) and we’re introduced to the Arrowverse’s Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch).

It’s nice to see Superman finally interact with the wider Arrowverse. Hoechlin continues to come across as that perfect blend of a classic yet modern Superman. He doesn’t need to puff out his chest, as Oliver comically does, he’s humble and welcoming as you’d expect Clark to be.

Behind the Scenes

We don’t get to see much of Tulloch’s Lois in the preview scene, but we do get a little more in the behind the scenes video where she comes across as feisty and unafraid, instantly wanting to join in on the action. And I love that she calls Clark “Smallville” like Lois did in the animated series and Smallville. And speaking of Smallville, seeing the Kent Farm again just made me so happy. It’s a beautiful reminder of where The CW started and just how much further they’ve come.

We also get a better look at Ruby Rose’s Batwoman in action. Just seeing the costume, hanging in the cave, is such an iconic image. Hopefully the character is well received and we do get the Batwoman series next year so we can really explore this world.

The cast and creative team talk about how the crossovers are for the fans, and no where is this more evident than the return of John Wesley Shipp as the classic TV Flash. To see him back in that suit and hear him say “My name is Barry Allen” is a moment I never thought I’d see. And yeah, I do feel sorry that Grant Gustin didn’t get to be Flash alongside him, he’s earned it.

Elsewords begins Sunday December 9th on The CW.
