Spider-Man: Far From Home Trailer Details And Stealth Suit Revealed

Spider-Man Tom Holland
We’ve got a first look at a new suit, but it looks like we’re going to have to wait a little longer to see Spider-Man: Far From Home‘s first trailer.

Earlier in the week, rumours were swirling that the first trailer for the Spider-Man sequel (the first film set after Avengers: Endgame) was going to arrive on December 8, the day after the Avengers trailer hit and four days after Captain Marvel‘s second trailer landed.

It turns out that the trailer did arrive, just not on the internet. Sony premiered the trailer live at CCXP in Brazil, with Jake Gyllenhaal himself appearing on stage.

While the footage shown hasn’t leaked online, we have a description of the trailer, translated from Cinepop. There are spoilers abound, so skip ahead this bit if you’d like to watch the trailer spoiler-free.

Jake Gyllenhaal offered some juicy details about the trailer, including exactly what that stone and water creature is:

“There are these threats to the world, the Elementals, elemental creatures. And Mysterio is someone who knows about them and wants to make sure that the world is safe from them. And Nick Fury asks him to come on and help because he’s the only one who really understands them. And then he teams up with the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and unfortunately has to make him become more than a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.”

It’s unclear exactly what these elemental creatures are, whether they’re ancient monsters just now being unleashed or Mysterio’s illusions, but it’s interesting that Mysterio is brought in by Fury. Anyone who knows the character’s history in the comics knows that he will likely become the film’s villain but from the sounds of it, his transformation will likely be an intriguing one.

Rumor has it that the trailer will now debut on December 18, or possibly earlier to make sure that the ad is paired up with the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. But there’s still something for Spidey fans to get excited about in the meantime, as we now have a first look at Spider-Man’s stealth suit from the film, thanks to a Twitter post from SuperBroMovies’ DanielRPK:

We’ve seen behind the scenes photos of Tom Holland in a red-and-black suit before, but this is the first look at the all-black suit. It’s not often we see Peter Parker don a suit that isn’t red-and-blue. There are a few in the comics, but the only other time we’ve seen Spidey in a black suit in a live action film is the symbiote suit in Spider-Man 3.

This suit is definitely not symbiote-related, and seems to be made for espionage, which makes you wonder where it comes from. Set photos have strongly indicated that this is a design made by S.H.I.E.L.D. (who would somehow return from being largely inactive from the setting after their collapse in Captain America: The Winter Soldier), but the version of the costume shown at CCXP does not have the organization’s insignia on it. Somehow, I don’t think that we’re going to get clear answers on what that means until after Avengers: Endgame is released.
