Full ‘Elseworlds’ Trailer Arrives

Elseworlds
“Something is wrong with reality.” So begins the first full trailer for Elseworlds. After multiple teasers focusing on the Arrowverse’s trinity of heroes and the debut of Batwoman, the new trailer gives fans their best look yet at The CW’s annual crossover event.

There’s a lot to take in during the short trailer. We get our first look at Jeremy Davies as the villainous Doctor Deegan as Barry and Oliver confront him for re-writing their reality. We get glimpses of Batwoman, the Bat Signal, the Kent Farm, and Superman. A brief shot of scared looking Killer Frost is our first confirmation of her appearance in the crossover.

The Monitor (Lamonica Garret) makes his live action debut in the trailer, offering Deegan a mysterious book that can be seen throughout the trailer. “I offer you Godhood.” He says, presumably to Deegan, “Show them what a real God can do.” As he says this, a black suited Superman lands ominously and begins to rise.

Normally The Monitor is portrayed as a hero. When he first debuted in Crisis on Infinite Earths he gathered heroes from across the multiverse to combat the threat of the Anti-Monitor. Could this Monitor be a villain? Or is he perhaps testing our heroes for a greater Crisis to come?

Most intriguing though, are the words of John Wesley Shipp’s classic Flash. “Enough! You will not do to this Earth what you did to mine!” Whoever he is talking to, whether it’s The Monitor, Deegan, or the black suited Superman, it seems his world has already fallen to the threat that now faces the Arrowverse. And, call me crazy, but does that sound like Tom Welling saying “He’s re-writing reality again”? Elseworlds would certainly be the ideal place for his Clark/Superman to appear, if only for a moment. It’s extremely unlikely, but with the Arrowverse I’ve learnt to never say never.

Elseworlds begins December 9th.
