‘Batgirl’ Costume Revealed by Leslie Grace in First Official Set Photo
Batgirl star Leslie Grace took to Twitter Friday night to post the first official picture from the upcoming HBO Max movie.
The project is currently shooting in London, and after the many cast announcements that shook the Internet over the past month (the movie will include the return of J. K. Simmons and Michael Keaton), Grace decided to increase the enthusiasm among the fanbase by showing us the costume she will be wearing. Here’s her post:
“I use their expectations against them. That will be their weakness. Not mine. Let them all underestimate me…
And when their guard is down, and their pride is rising, let me kick their butts.”

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys For Life) are directing a script from Christina Hodson (Bumblebee, Birds of Prey, The Flash). As mentioned before, the cast includes Grace in the titular role of Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, as well as J. K. Simmons returning as Commissioner Gordon (a character he previously played in both versions of Justice League), and Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Keaton will don the Batman cape once again this year in The Flash, and we’ve known for a couple of years that it will not be his only time back, as Warner Bros. is planning to keep him around to play a role similar to Nick Fury’s in the MCU. In addition, a report from a few days ago mentioned that Rebecca Front, Corey Johnson, and Ethan Kai are joining the movie as well, playing undisclosed roles for the moment.
Batgirl will be released on HBO Max, though a release date is unknown at this point. It is part of DC’s strategy to regularly produce films for theaters and streaming, supposedly with no drop in quality or investment. However, Blue Beetle was also going to be part of that strategy, and last month it was announced that it would be releasing in theaters in 2023 after all. For now, Batgirl‘s release plans are locked to HBO Max only.
2022 is a big year for DC, as they are putting out four theatrical films if nothing changes, starting on March 4th with Matt Reeves’ The Batman. After that, Black Adam is coming out in July, and The Flash and Aquaman 2 are set to arrive in the fall.
Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as authors like Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
