Mark Ruffalo Says He’s up for a ‘World War Hulk’ Project

While we still don’t know when or where will Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk be popping up next, the actor says he’s ready for anything Marvel throws at him.

Right after the premiere of She-Hulk on Monday night, Entertainment Tonight had the chance to briefly talk to Mark Ruffalo. They asked him about some Easter eggs in the new Disney Plus series that could potentially set up an upcoming World War Hulk project, to which Ruffalo said:

“Anytime they wanna do it, I’m here.”

Of course, the problem with having a solo Hulk movie has been the same ever since the release of the 2008 film starring Edward Norton (a movie that Marvel Studios suspiciously chose to ignore when recapping the events that Hulk has been involved in in the MCU in their Marvel Legends special on Disney Plus). While Marvel holds production rights for any Hulk movie, Universal Pictures has final say on any Hulk solo movie that Marvel Studios would potentially want to release in theaters.

Rumors of a World War Hulk adaptation started running around late last year, though after the recent San Diego Comic-Con panel, it seems like it’s not happening anytime soon. However, according to a report by Murphy’s Multiverse, Universal could lose the distribution rights to Hulk in June 2023, which could clear Marvel’s path to have any Hulk movie they want. In fact, according to insiders, the new She-Hulk series may have something to say about it.

Reactions to the Tatiana Maslany-led series started coming out on Monday, ahead of the series’ debut on Thursday with the first episode. Marvel has already revealed that it will feature cameos by Wong (Benedict Wong) and Daredevil (Charlie Cox), who will not be as dark as he was in the Netflix series, but they could have more in store that have not yet been announced. Both Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Smart Hulk and Tim Roth as the Emil Blonsky/Abomination are returning. Jessica Gao is head writer, and Kat Coiro directed six of the nine episodes (Anu Valia directed 5-7). The cast also includes Jameela Jamil, Josh Segarra, Ginger Gonzaga, Jon Bass and Renée Elise Goldsberry.
