Ezra Miller Issues Public Apology, Says They Have Begun Mental Health Treatment

Ezra Miller has released a statement apologizing for their public behavior and affirming they are actively seeking mental health assistance.

The following memo was released to Variety by a representative of the actor:

“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment. I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

Miller has been the subject of a waterfall worth of headlines in the past few weeks/months, after their actions caused a massive PR problem for the studio behind the DC and Fantastic Beasts franchises. The actor was barely present on the press tour for The Secrets of Dumbledore and has since spent several nights in jail in Hawaii and was most recently charged with burglary, among many other accusations that include grooming young girls and assaulting women.

Miller is the lead actor of the upcoming near-$300M blockbuster The Flash, which Warner Bros. is planning to release next June. A recent story by The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that, unless Miller was to seek immediate help after returning to their Vermont home with their mother, the studio would consider scrapping the Andy Muschietti-directed film. This would only happen if Miller not only didn’t receive help but would continue with their erratic behavior that is now entering the illegal territory. For now, with the release of this statement and the promise to seek immediate mental health assistance, it seems like the studio has no reason to go down this avenue.

The Flash is currently scheduled for a June 23, 2023, release. Michael Keaton and Sasha Calle will most likely carry the heavy burden of the marketing campaign, though it’s unknown if Ezra Miller will play any part in that. The next few months will be very telling in that.
