‘Loki’ Season 2 Filming in London, and Rumors on Marvel Studios’ Upcoming Production Schedule

Agent Mobius and Loki

Loki season 2 started principal photography almost a month ago. The new season of the Marvel Studios show will probably debut on Disney Plus sometime next year.

A bunch of set photos have also appeared online, teasing that the show will be at least partially set on Earth in the 1970s:

There are also pictures from Tom Hiddleston on set, as well as Owen Wilson:

And here’s video footage from the set:

Loki season 2 is not the only Disney Plus project Marvel has currently in production. In addition to the Halloween and Holiday Specials that are in post-production, as well as Secret Invasion (which is set to undergo several, interrupted months of reshoots this summer), Ironheart is currently filming in Atlanta. The character, played by Dominique Thorne, will make her debut in this year’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Moreover, Hawkeye spin-off series Echo began production this Spring, with Alaqua Cox returning to the MCU in the title role. Vincent D’Onofrio is also rumored to play a substantial role in the series, which could also bring Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil in. D’Onofrio recently posted a short video on social media teasing he’s working on a project right now. As of today, the four Marvel Studios series that would debut in 2023 are Secret InvasionEchoLoki season 2, and Ironheart.

There is room for more, though, as Marvel Studios is ramping up the number of projects they have in production, even more. Rumors point to up to six series going in front of the cameras either later this year or sometime in 2023. First, Armor Wars, which was announced over eighteen months ago, could start rolling this Fall. This was a rumor from The Cosmic Circus from a few months ago that was then backed up by a piece of official information posted by a conference named “From Idea To Film”, which Marvel Studios executive Jenna Berger participated in. If everything goes smoothly, Marvel could schedule it for a late 2023 release on Disney Plus, three years after the project was officially announced.

WandaVision spin-off is also rumored to start filming either later this year or early 2023. This piece of information was first discussed by The DisInsider and then backed up by Production Weekly (an often unreliable source, though it seems like they could be right this time around). Jac Schaeffer, who was the head writer on WandaVision, is developing that series. A new rumor by Cinestealth also points out that Schaeffer has also signed on to develop an additional Disney Plus series for Marvel, which could be Young Avengers-related. This has not been backed up by any additional sources, so we’re taking it as a wild rumor for now.

A rumor from the Twitter account Greatphase mentions that in addition to those series, in 2023 Marvel will also film the Okoye spin-off series that was reported last year, tentatively titled Midnight Angels, the new Daredevil series set in the MCU, which Charlie Cox would reportedly be returning for, Nova, and Wonder Man. The last one is being developed by Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton, who we all thought would be working on a Ten Rings spin-off series, teased by the second post-credits scene in Shang-Chi. According to Cinestealth, he’s actually working on both series.

Last but not least, Deuxmoi recently posted on social media that Ryan Gosling will be filming a project for Marvel Studios next year. While the veracity of this has not been checked yet, this is the same account that reported on Jude Law joining a new Star Wars series for Disney Plus, something that turned out to be true. We will keep an eye on it. Some are already speculating this could be for Nova, but nothing is confirmed.

Right now, Ms. Marvel is about to debut its final two episodes. Stay tuned for more news on the Disney Plus slate from Marvel Studios. The company is set to make a splash at this month’s San Diego Comic-Con, as well as this September’s D23. Between both events, Kevin Feige will update us on the schedule and share some details on how it all connects, and where the story is heading now.
