‘Daredevil’ Alive at Disney Plus, New Series Confirmed

Daredevil

Daredevil will be back with a vengeance on Disney Plus.

Variety dropped the massive, but not surprising, news today, confirming Charlie Cox’s return as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home wasn’t only a small cameo leading nowhere.

Cover Affairs co-creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord are attached to write and executive produce. They most recently worked as executive producers and co-showrunners on the NBC drama shows The Enemy Within and The Brave, as well as The CW Network’s Containment.

We’d been hearing for a while that a Disney Plus series about the Man Without Fear was in the works, especially after D’Onofrio also reprised his Daredevil role of Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, in Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye. Moreover, Murdock is very likely to show up at some point during the She-Hulk series, since the main character of that show (rumored to be heavy on cameos) is a lawyer too. On top of that, Echo is now shooting and aims to release next year — that character, first introduced in Hawkeye, has direct ties to Wilson Fisk and, if we look at the comics, to Daredevil himself. Everything adds up, so we’re probably seeing Matt Murdock two more times before he appears in his own new show.

The next major question is whether Marvel Studios will choose to bring back more actors from the original Netflix series, including fan-favorites such as Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) and Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson). Word is Jessica Jones, another Defender from the Netflix era, could also return played by Krysten Ritter once again, so it seems like everything’s on the table right now.
