First ‘Pinocchio’ Teaser Trailer Casts a Spell
This morning, Disney finally released the official teaser trailer for the upcoming Robert Zemeckis-directed live-action remake of Pinocchio.
The long-anticipated film stars Tom Hanks (Geppetto), Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Pinocchio), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Jiminy Cricket), Cynthia Erivo (Blue Fairy), Keegan-Michael Key (Honest John), Lorraine Bracco (Sofia the Seagull), Luke Evans (The Coachman), Kyanne Lamaya, Giuseppe Battiston, and Lewin Lloyd.
Watch the full teaser trailer below:
We get a great look at Tom Hanks as he utters his classic and fateful plea to the stars above. As a big Hanks fan, I am excited to see what he brings to the role, and am sure he will deliver a magical performance. We also get our first glimpse at Cynthia Erivo’s Blue Fairy as she grants Geppetto his wish with the timeless tune of “When You Wish Upon A Star” playing in the background. A first look was also granted to Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Jiminy Cricket — he’s seen bumbling around every which way as his adventure is only just beginning.
While the trailer doesn’t give us a first glance at our puppet star, I would bet a month’s pay we will see him in the official trailer. What’s magical about this teaser is them not showing him, and us simply knowing he is there. The first poster, however, is fully dedicated to him:
Pinocchio looks to be a visual stunner filled with all of the heart-churning moments of the original. Remember, this one is premiering exclusively on Disney Plus on September 8th.
