Gal Gadot Wraps Filming for ‘Snow White’

Gal Gadot will play the Evil Queen in Snow White

Gal Gadot has already wrapped filming her part as the Evil Queen for the Snow White live-action remake.

The actress announced this over the weekend, posting an image on Instagram (via Collider) from the makeup room with the caption “Last day on Snow White with the best team ever #EvilQueen”. No new cast members have been announced since the Andrew Burnap news, yet most of them seem to be wrapping their roles — we should assume that principal photography will conclude within the next few days. Gal Gadot has a busy shooting schedule at the moment, as she is also in production for Heart of Stone, a female version of Mission: Impossible or James Bond. She will also be producing that movie.

Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) is playing the titular role, with Burnap as the male lead, who is not the classic Huntsman nor the Prince. Disney also announced earlier this year that Snow White will not be living with seven dwarfs as it happened in the animated classic. Instead, there will be seven “magical creatures” that will be computer-generated, as they said in response to Peter Dinklage’s criticism on the Marc Maron podcast a few months ago.

Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) is directing; La La Land‘s Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will be writing new songs for the remake, and Marc Platt (who also worked on La La Land) is producing. No release date has been announced for the movie yet, but sometime in the second half of 2023 is likely. Disney has already dated The Little Mermaid for Memorial Day of next year, though it’s always possible they might be able to release Snow White in the spring.

Disney is supposed to release two more live-action remakes this year, in Robert Zemeckis’ Pinocchio and David Lowery’s Peter Pan and Wendy. Both of them will come out on Disney Plus, and so far, we only know that Pinocchio is coming out in the fourth quarter of Disney’s fiscal year, which corresponds to a release window between July and September. There is no word yet on Peter Pan and Wendy, though the company did include a few frames from the movie in a video shown during an investor’s meeting early March.

Stay tuned for more news on Snow White and all of Disney’s live-action remakes soon.
