Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

After six intense months of shooting, James Gunn and his team have filmed the third movie centered around the Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as a Holiday Special that will debut on Disney Plus later this year.

In fact, the director has been posting on social media some wrapping gifts that are being handed out to the crew as they finish their part on the Holiday Special. Actress Pom Klementieff, who plays Mantis in the MCU, also posted a picture of a cake she made to celebrate finishing work on the movie. Check it out below:

Gunn also posted on Twitter that they have seven days left of shooting, which means they will be wrapping up mid-next week. The movie is currently scheduled to hit theaters May 5th, 2023, so the crew will have almost an entire year to work on the post-production process. The Holiday Special, which will also be finished by the end of next week, is hitting Disney Plus later this year.

James Gunn revealed earlier this year the one-off will have the length of a classic television special. He’s also described the project numerous times as the best thing he’s ever written, so that should get us all excited. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will not be the only television special from Marvel Studios hitting Disney Plus later this year, as production is currently underway for a Halloween-centric event that Michael Giacchino is directing.

With seven days left of shooting, which includes today, Guardians of the Galaxy will be wrapping mere hours before Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness debuts in theaters. The world premiere will, in fact, take place on Monday, May 2nd. Stay tuned for more news on Doctor Strange 2 as well as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
