Hailee Steinfeld Spotted on ‘Hawkeye’ Set

Hailee Steinfeld has long been rumored to be cast as Kate Bishop in the Hawkeye series for Disney+, but now it seems we finally have something close to confirmation after the actress previously denied the news.

 

Thanks to a leaked video from the Hawkeye set from Murphy’s Multiverse on Twitter, we can see what seems to be Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld walking through a subway station. The video is a little blurry, but Murphy’s Multiverse claims it is her.

 

 

This leak comes hot on the heels of more rumors that claim Florence Pugh is also joining the show as Yelena Belova, reprising her character from Black Widow and wearing a costume resembling Jeremy Renner’s Ronin costume from Avengers: Endgame. This news would be a sign that both characters are destined for bigger things in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

 

Kate Bishop takes over the role of Hawkeye from Clint Barton in the comics, so it seems likely that Steinfeld will make the jump to the big screen in the next few years. Belova’s possible involvement in Hawkeye would indicate that she will be replacing Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanov as the Black Widow in the MCU going forward.

 

We know very little else about Hawkeye, aside from the reports that Clint Barton will be handing the baton over to Kate Bishop, signalling Renner’s departure from the franchise. There have been no other story details released and no word about who the series’ villain will be.

 

With the series currently filming, Hawkeye should debut a year from now, in late 2021. A trailer is still a long way off, so maybe Marvel should consider making her casting official with a press release in the coming months.
