Brendan Fraser Joins ‘Doom Patrol’ as Robotman

Doom Patrol
DC Universe’s Doom Patrol just made it’s biggest casting announcement yet as Deadline revealed that Brendan Fraser will be playing Robotman/Cliff Steele in the upcoming series.

Cliff Steele is a former race car driver who’s body is left uninhabitable following a horrific accident. His brain is saved by Doctor Niles Caulder, the Doom Patrol’s enigmatic leader, who creates a new robotic body for him.

Best known for his role in the action/adventure The Mummy franchise, Fraser will make up one half of Robotman, providing the character’s voice whilst Riley Shanahan will provides the physical performance. But that doesn’t mean we’ll never see Fraser on screen. Deadline have confirmed that he will also appear in flashbacks set before Cliff’s ill-fated accident.

Earlier this month it was announced that Joivan Wade was joining the cast as Cyborg. Fraser joins April Bowlby’s Elasti-Woman and Diane Gurrero’s Crazy Jane as one of the founding members of the team. That just leaves Negative Man and Caulder himself still to be cast for the series. Back in June, Kelsey Grammer was rumored to be the front runner for Caulder, but nothing has been officially confirmed.

Doom Patrol is due to launch next year on the DC Universe streaming platform.
