Danny Boyle Exits 25th ‘James Bond’ Movie

Danny Boyle James Bond
Uh-oh, 007. The 25th installment in the James Bond film series, which is scheduled to be Daniel Craig’s final performance as the title character, is now without a director as Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) exits the project.

As of right now, the official James Bond Twitter account has just sent out a message claiming that Boyle will no longer be directing Bond 25 after some unspecified creative differences between himself, Craig, and producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli:

Boyle was to film a script by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who have penned the scripts for every single James Bond movie that Craig has starred in. With Boyle leaving the project, it’s not clear if  the current script will be retained or if some rewrites will be deemed necessary by whatever director takes over the project. Two potential contenders who could be available to replace Boyle – David Mackenzie and Yann Demange – were previously in the running to direct the movie.

Bond 25 is currently scheduled to be released on November 8, 2019, but following Boyle’s departure, it’s likely that the film’s release date will be delayed. As mentioned above, it will be the last James Bond movie that will star Daniel Craig as the franchise’s titular character.
