‘Veronica Mars’ May Get a Continuation on Hulu

Veronica Mars
Exciting news for Marshmallow fans: Veronica Mars appears to be coming back!

According to Variety, Hulu is nearing a deal to continue the TV series that starred Kristen Bell (Frozen, The Good Place) as a young high-school detective. Creator Rob Thomas and Bell are in talks for an eight-to-ten-episode revival series produced by Warner Bros. Television that covers Bell as an private investigator. However, it should be noted that the deal is currently not finalized, with Bell’s involvement with The Good Place being a key issue in terms of scheduling. So far, only Bell is attached to the project.

Veronica Mars ran for two seasons on UPN, then a 3rd season on the CW, from 2004 – 2007. The series was known for its creative mysteries, noir atmosphere, and its loyal fans (Marshmallows). Each episode would focus around an individual mystery while clues toward solving series-long mysteries would be presented. The series was cancelled for low ratings, but Bell and many of the cast reunited in 2014 for a Veronica Mars movie which was crowd-funded.

In addition to launching Bell’s career, the series featured a who’s who of rising stars over the years including Kristen Ritter (Jessica Jones, Breaking Bad), Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok, Creed), Max Greenfield (New Girl, American Horror Story), Amanda Seyfried (Mama Mia, Mama Mia 2), Chris Lowell (GLOW), Armie Hammer (Call Me By Your Name), Jessica Chastain (Molly’s Game), Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation), Tina Majorino (Grey’s Anatomy), Ken Marino (iZombie), Anthony Anderson (Black-ish), and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad). The critically-acclaimed series also showcased industry veterans Paul Rudd (Ant-Man, Avengers 4), Charisma Carpenter (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel), Alyson Hannigan (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, How I Met Your Mother), Enrico Colantoni (Galaxy Quest, A.I.: Artificial Intelligence), Harry Hamlin (Mad Men), and Steve Guttenberg (Ballers, Cocoon).

No release date for the Veronica Mars revival has been scheduled.
