‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Actor Joins ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’

Spider-Man
Spider-Man: Far From Home has just snagged an actor from the newly-released, critically-acclaimed Crazy Rich Asians in its web: Remy Hii.

The Wrap broke this news the same day that Crazy Rich Asians hit theaters, as Hii plays one of the many characters in the all-Asian romantic comedy. However, his Spider-Man role is being kept a secret for the time being, with some fans speculating that he could be a supervillain like Hydro-Man (who was hinted at recently with a water-based stunt).

Also among the cast are Tom Holland as Peter Parker (Spider-Man), Zendaya Coleman as Michelle Jones, Marisa Tomei as May Parker, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Tony Revolori as Eugene “Flash” Thompson, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, and Hemky Madera as Mr. Delmar. New additions to the cast with unknown roles include J. B. Smoove and Oli Hill. Jake Gyllenhall’s Mysterio is set to be the big villain of the film, though Numan Acar is also part of the cast as a role speculated to be the Chameleon and Michael Keaton is returning as the Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming. Marvel could possibly be setting the stage for a movie where Peter Parker has to face off against the entire Sinister Six in time for his graduation from high school, provided that they add the Shocker from Homecoming and a few new faces to round out a roster of baddies.

Far From Home will be the first Marvel Studios film set after the events of next year’s Avengers 4, which will answer the question of (SPOILER ALERT) why Spider-Man is alive and well after being dusted at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, at which point he’s in dire need of a vacation. While Homecoming played with the idea of taking Spidey out of New York City as the hero took the fight to New York’s suburbs and even to Washington, D.C., Far From Home seems to have the idea of our hero swinging through the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and the Czech Republic as a selling point.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released on July 5, 2019.
