‘Nomadland’ Releases New Trailer
Nomadland is as of today the favorite for this upcoming Oscar season.
The festival darling Nomadland, which won the biggest prizes at Toronto and Venice, has released its official trailer today. Here is the official synopsis for the movie:
Following the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, Fern (Frances McDormand) packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad. The third feature film from director Chloé Zhao, NOMADLAND features real nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells as Fern’s mentors and comrades in her exploration through the vast landscape of the American West.
Nomadland is now running full steam ahead towards the stage of the Dolby Theater in L.A. to earn that trophy at the end of March. Chloé Zhao should also be preparing her accepting speech for Best Director of the year, and maybe even Best Adapted Screenplay, although the script categories are pretty packed this year.
Despite being several names that will become very popular in a couple of months when the studios start throwing real money into their Oscar campaigns (movies like One Night in Miami…, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, or even Mank), Nomadland is still the favorite. However, it still needs to prove that it can go beyond having an amazing festival run, and keep that momentum going through the end of April. We’ll have to wait and see for ourselves in a couple of months.
The movie was written, directed, produced, and edited by Chloé Zhao, who adapted the book from Jessica Bruder. It was also produced by Frances McDormand, Mollye Asher, Dan Janvey, and Peter Spears. The cast includes Frances McDormand, David Strathairn, Linda May, Swankie, Bob Wells, Derek Endres, Melissa Smith, James R. Taylor Jr., and Emily Jade Foley. Nomadland will arrive in theaters in February 2021.
Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as authors like Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
