Even before Drive-Away Dolls hits the screens, Ethan Coen has already lined up his next project — for which he’ll be teaming up once again with Tricia Cooke, his wife. The two will co-direct the upcoming Honey Don’t!, from a script they also co-wrote; a do-over from Drive-Away Dolls. They also produce with Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Robert Graf. In the new film, which is described as the second entry in an unofficial trilogy of lesbian B-movies. Margaret Qualley stars in Drive-Away Dolls, along with Geraldine Viswanathan. Qualley is returning for Honey Don’t!, per Deadline, and will be joined by Aubrey Plaza and Chris Evans.

Production will start in March. Focus Features is backing both Drive-Away Dolls and Honey Don’t!

Ethan Coen parted ways with his brother Joel after decades of making films together. Joel Coen made The Tragedy of Macbeth after their last co-directed movie, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, while Ethan made the A24 doc Jerry Lee Lewis: Trouble in Mind and later, Drive-Away Dolls. That film was initially supposed to be released last September, but was pushed due to the strikes. While Qualley and Viswanathan may not be two recognizable faces, the cast includes big names like Pedro Pascal and Matt Damon who could be used by the marketing department at Focus.

Margaret Qualley is mostly recognized these days for her scene-stealing role in Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She had a cameo in the now-in-theaters Poor Things and is set to have a larger role in Yorgos Lanthimos’ next movie, Kinds of Kindness. She co-headlined the Neon pic Sanctuary, which came and went mostly unnoticed (and which also stars Christopher Abbott.)

Aubrey Plaza received a major career boost after her major role in The White Lotus season 2, which gave her an Emmy nomination. She’s part of the upcoming Marvel series Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, as well as Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis.

Chris Evans has had a terrible post-MCU career, ignoring Rian Johnson’s Knives Out. His last two movies, Ghosted and Pain Hustlers, were critically panned. He also has the Prime Video pic Red One waiting to be released, but word on the street is not very positive for it either…
