‘Three Body Problem’ First Teaser Announces January 2024 Release Date

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’ first series since Game of ThronesThree Body Problem, will be released on Netflix in January 2024, as the first teaser announced over the weekend during the Tudum fan event.

 

The series is being described as a mystery-thriller that will explore humanity’s response to its gravest threat; it is an adaptation of the novels by Chinese author Liu Cixin. Netflix has not provided many plot details yet, besides the following, generic plot synopsis:

 

“‘3 Body Problem’ is a new dramatic series inspired by the renowned and epic book trilogy, which tells the story of what happens when humanity discovers we are not alone in the universe.”

 

The cast includes Jess Hong as Jin Cheng, Eiza González as Auggie Salazar, Jovan Adepo as Saul Durand, Alex Sharp as Will Downing, John Bradley as Jack Rooney, Benedict Wong as intelligence officer Da Shi, Saamer Usmani as Raj Varma, Liam Cunningham as Thomas Wade, Rosalind Chao and Zine Tseng as Ye Wenjie, Jonathan Pryce and Ben Schnetzer as Mike Evans, Marlo Kelly as Tatiana, Sea Shimooka as Sophon, and Eve Ridley as Follower.

 

Benioff and Weiss are showrunners and executive producers. Alexander Woo co-created the series with Benioff and Weiss, and is executive producer and writer. Other executive producers include Bernadette Caulfield; Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, and Nena Rodrigue via T-Street; Lin Qi, the late former Chairman of Yoozoo Group, and Zhao Jilong, CEO of the rights-holder, The Three-Body Universe; Plan B Entertainment; and Rosamund Pike and Robie Uniacke for Primitive Streak. The only director announced so far is Derek Tsang.
