‘Captain America 4’ Retitled as ‘Brave New World’, First Behind-The-Scenes Picture Drops
Marvel Studios has officially announced that Captain America 4 will now be subtitled Brave New World, after a few weeks of rumors that New World Order would not be the final title of the project.
The news comes directly from Anthony Mackie himself, who leads the new project as Sam Wilson, a character that started off as the Falcon but assumed the mantle of Captain America after the events of Avengers: Endgame. The Disney Plus series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier portrayed that transition; in fact, by the end, that very series was rebranded as Captain America and the Winter Soldier.
Mackie posted on Instagram a behind-the-scenes picture of himself and Harrison Ford on set, showing off the new logo and title for the film. Ford joins the Marvel Universe as Thunderbolt Ross after William Hurt passed away last year; he is expected to play a pivotal role in the franchise, appearing in Brave New World and likely Thunderbolts as well, among other projects. In a recent interview with Esquire, the actor opened up about joining the franchise; in typical Harrison Ford fashion, he described the process of being in a Marvel movie as follows:
“Uh. Yeah. I mean, there are tough days and easy days and fun days and all kinds of days. It’s a tough schedule and, yeah, it’s fun. But it’s not a walk in the park. It’s not fun fun. It’s work.”
Marvel Studios’ official Twitter account reposted Mackie’s picture and reasserted to audiences that they will be meeting their planned May 3, 2024, release date. For those who have been following the production closely over the past few weeks/months, this doesn’t come exactly as a surprise, but it’s a nice reminder that the WGA strike hasn’t affected the production schedule, and that everything is proceeding as normal. The film is now about to start its fourth month of principal photography, and should be ready to wrap later this summer.
Captain America 4, now subtitled Brave New World, is directed by Julius Onah, from a script by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. Besides Mackie and Ford, the cast includes so far Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley and Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Tim Blake Nelson as the Leader, Shira Haas, and Liv Tyler, reprising her role as Betty Ross.
Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as authors like Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
