‘A Quiet Place: Day One’, Starring Lupita Nyong’o, Begins Filming

A Quiet Place: Day One

A Quiet Place is getting ready to be loud again.

John Krasinski has announced on social media that filming on the spin-off A Quiet Place: Day One began this week. He is only producing this time around, allowing Pig‘s Michael Sarnoski to take the chair. The cast, as far as we know, includes Lupita Nyong’o in the lead role and Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn. The film, which is not a continuation of the story of Part II, is expected to be a test by the studio to see if they can build up an entire universe.

Krasinski is keeping himself busy, both inside and outside his own franchise. He recently wrapped filming his latest directorial effort Imaginary Friends, which lined up an all-star ensemble that includes Steve Carell, Ryan Reynolds, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Fiona Shaw, and Krasinski himself, among others. Additionally, a Quiet Place threequel is in the works, as Paramount announced last year, with Krasinski on board as producer and likely as writer-director too. The entire gang — those still alive — should be back too.

The writing credits on A Quiet Place: Day One are yet to be ironed out, but the movie is based on an original idea by Krasinski himself, who already came up with the entire idea for the franchise, alongside Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, a few years ago. At one point, the film had enlisted Loving‘s Jeff Nichols to direct, but he had to depart due to scheduling conflicts with another project he was very passionate about. The producers of the film rushed at that point to find a replacement, and after Krasinski watched Pig, he was quick to offer Sarnoski the job.

Krasinski himself is producing via his Sunday Night banner, along with his partner Allyson Seeger, who is executive producing. Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller are also producing via Platinum Dunes.

A Quiet Place: Day One will hit theaters on March 8, 2024, while A Quiet Place Part III will come out sometime in 2025 if plans don’t change.
