‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ Main Trailer Surfaces, Promises Grand Return to Pandora
After a long wait, the main trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water has finally arrived, and the film looks as grand and gorgeous as you’d expect.

While this preview is thankfully less revealing than the (memorable) main trailer the original Avatar received in 2009, we now have a general sense of where the story is going. As promised by writer-director James Cameron, the younger characters appear to be front and center, and there’s a big mystery surrounding Kiri (played by Sigourney Weaver) and her connection to Eywa — the new character is Jake and Neytiri’s adoptive daughter. Moreover, the mineral-seeking human colonizers have returned with upgraded military forces and a bluer version of Stephen Lang’s Miles Quaritch.

“Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.
Directed by James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, the film stars Zoe Saldaña, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, and Kate Winslet.”

Anticipation for Avatar: The Way of Water keeps mounting up as its December 16 release date approaches, with the recent remastered re-release of the first Avatar performing way above expectations domestically and across several international markets.
The third Avatar installment, which doesn’t have an official title yet, has already been shot and is currently scheduled to come out on December 20, 2024. And it looks like Disney is feeling confident about Cameron’s jumbo-sized return to Pandora, as the fourth entry recently began shooting despite earlier comments indicating production would only move forward if The Way of Water‘s numbers were big enough.
