‘Loki’ Season 2 Taps Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead as Main Directors
Marvel Studios is gearing up to start production on the second season of Loki, and they’ve just found the two main directors of the new season.
According to Deadline, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have been chosen to co-direct the majority of the new stream of episodes. Michael Waldron, showrunner of season 1 and writer of the first and final episodes, will come back as executive producer. Tom Hiddleston will reprise the titular role as well as executive produce the series.
Benson and Moorhead most recently directed two episodes of another Marvel Studios series for Disney Plus, Moon Knight starring Oscar Isaac. That show will debut on the platform on March 30th. According to Deadline, the Marvel team was so impressed with how they handled that shoot that they quickly found a new project for them to tackle.
Season 1 director Kate Herron told Deadline back in July that she would not be returning for the second season, which was announced in a post-credits tag during the finale. According to the new story, only Hiddleston is set in stone to return, though Owen Wilson confirmed in a recent WIRED video that he will (obviously) be back for season 2 too. Sophia Di Martino (Sylvie) and Jonathan Majors (He Who Remains/Kang the Conqueror) are question marks at this point, but it’s not far-fetched to think they’ll come back as well.
Majors has spent the past number of months shooting Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and connections between that movie and the Loki series are to be expected, though we still don’t know which project will come first. Also, given the way season 1 ended, connections between Loki and the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness should be expected as well.
Loki season 2 is rumored to start production this summer in England. Stay tuned for more news on that front in the coming months.

He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
