‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Storms the Super Bowl With New Trailer

He is here! While we were expecting a 30-second spot for the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Marvel Studios has surprised us all with the full official trailer.

Check out the new Doctor Strange 2 trailer below (it packs more than a couple of huge surprises):

In addition to the trailer, Marvel has also released a new poster for the movie:

The new MCU movie is directed by Sam Raimi, from a screenplay by Michael Waldron, and is currently on target to hit its May 6th release date — notice that this is a 2-day delay from the previous May 4th date the movie had. Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen lead the film and are joined by Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Marvel rookie Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez.

This is one of the biggest movies Marvel is putting out this year, and because of that, they are giving it their prime May spot, usually reserved for Avengers movies or big team-ups like Captain America: Civil War. It is also the continuation of the multiverse saga that was introduced in WandaVision and Loki, and was last seen in last December’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Marvel even debuted the teaser trailer for the Doctor Strange sequel during the end-credits sequence of that movie.

Dropping the full trailer for their May movie this soon is also quite surprising coming from them, as they usually wait until mid-March and put the tickets on sale at the same time. It’s very possible we will get a long TV spot in a month or so, with the announcement of “Tickets On Sale Now” at the very end. Spider-Man: No Way Home broke all box office records, and Marvel doesn’t intend to stop now — they will market this movie heavily to try to cram as many people as possible into theaters worldwide, regardless of the state of the ongoing global pandemic.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness debuts exclusively in theaters on May 6th.
