‘Avengers: Endgame’ Gets China Release Date and New Poster

Avengers Endgame
It’s official – Avengers: Endgame will be releasing in China on the same weekend as everywhere else, thereby ensuring that the movie will easily break the records for largest global opening weekend of all time and the fastest movie to reach $1B worldwide. Marvel has released a new poster to commemorate the announcement of the release date.

China gets the movie on April 24, two days before the United States. Even better, the movie’s sophomore weekend falls within a period that’s a local holiday. The new poster displaying the release date features virtually every major player in the culmination of a 22-movie story, and it showcases the living heroes preparing to avenge the fallen (shown below in silhouette), while Thanos ominously looks over them in a full suit of armor. The poster can be seen below:

Avengers: Infinity War did not have its release date in China synced up with almost everywhere else in the world, instead dropping two weeks afterward. (Incidentally, Russia was also a slightly staggered release.) It still beat the record for biggest global opening at just over $640M. With Avengers: Endgame arriving on the same day as almost everywhere else, this franchise is bound to break the record for biggest opening once again, with Deadline‘s early estimates suggesting that it could open to $840M – if not higher. However, they note that this is a ballpark estimate that does not account for inflation on Infinity WarEndgame‘s longer runtime, or current box office tracking for the film in the United States.

The film’s official synopsis is as follows:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame.

Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26, 2019. It will be released everywhere that same weekend, with the exception of the markets of Russia, Argentina, and Lebanon.
