Disney Releases a Look Behind the Scenes of ‘Dumbo’

Dumbo
Dumbo is all set to fly back into theaters later this month, and now Disney have released a special look behind the scenes of the live action reimagining along with a new teaser featuring Arcade Fire’s new rendition of “Baby Mine”.

First things first, don’t expect a remake. Like Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, this new version will show us what happens after the original film ended. “The original ends with the elephant flying,” says Danny DeVito, who plays circus owner Max Medici, “and this version begins with that.”

The look behind the scenes features new footage from the film along with a glimpse at the incredible sets and performers who bring both Medici’s Circus and Vandevere’s Dreamland to life.

Though director Tim Burton seems an unlikely choice to bring the story of the baby elephant back to the big screen, as Eva Green points out “he understands outsiders, people who don’t fit it, vulnerable souls like Dumbo.”

In addition to the behind the scenes video, Disney also released a new “sneak peek” this weekend. The short teaser showcases Arcade Fire’s new recording of “Baby Mine”, along with some adorable new footage of Dumbo and his mother, our first look at the dark side of Keaton’s Vandevere, and a glimpse at what appears to be the Farrier family’s struggle to free Dumbo.

So why Dumbo? And why now? “We need this movie right now,” DeVito says. “It reaffirms that individuality is a good thing,” Colin Farrell adds. Eva Green agrees, “It’s such a powerful, universal story … you don’t need to be perfect to be loved.”

Dumbo soars into cinemas, March 29th.
