‘A Star is Born’ Gets One-Week-Only Extended Cut for Theaters

A Star is Born
A Star is Born may have been snubbed during the awards cycle (aside from deserving recognition for “Shallow”), but the movie is still taking a victory lap with a one-week-only encore of the movie, which features 12 minutes of new footage inserted into the film.

Included in the new footage in this extended version of the film are performances of two new songs: “Too Far Gone”, sung by Bradley Cooper, and “Clover”, sung together by Cooper and Lady Gaga. While the former song appeared on the official soundtrack for the film, the latter was not included at all and is currently exclusive to the extended version. Screenings for this cut of the movie started on March 1 and will continue until March 7. As of right now, it’s not clear if this extended cut will be released elsewhere, but that seems like a likely option somewhere down the road. In addition, extended versions of “Black Eyes” and “Alibi”, songs sung by Cooper are performed in the film, along with Gaga’s “Is That Alright?” (which was previously just a song in the credits).

Prior to the awards circuit beginning, A Star is Born was considered the front-runner for multiple awards, but the film surprisingly ran into a lot of competition from the likes of Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody at the finish line. The film did get recognized in the end, but not as much as that early hype would have suggested, and in the end, the movie only walked home with one Oscar for Best Original Song. Regardless, the movie was an absolute success any way you look at it and shows promise for Gaga as an actress and Cooper as a director. They were already successful to begin with, but their stars will only shine brighter from this point on.

A Star is Born is still playing in theaters and is also available to watch on Blu-Ray, DVD, Digital, and On-Demand formats.
