John Wesley Shipp Teased for Arrowverse Elseworlds Crossover

John Wesley Shipp donning his classic Flash costume in Elseworlds crossover
Another day, another tease for this year’s Arrowverse Elseworlds crossover. This time, we’ve gotten another reveal that a popular character will be returning to our screens as part of the Elseworlds arc.

Stephen Amell has released another behind the scenes photo on social media, one with four superheroes lining up together in the street. Interestingly, Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman is not among them. These four heroes are comprised of Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl (in her own costume), Stephen Amell as The Flash, Grant Gustin as Green Arrow and John Wesley Shipp as another version of The Flash.

It’s not uncommon to have John Wesley Shipp return to The Flash every now and then for a little cameo as Jay Garrick, but the interesting thing to note here is that this time, it appears he’s playing his original version of Barry Allen from the 90s TV series. His costume is the same one from his old show, suggesting that he will not be returning as Jay Garrick this time.

It has also been revealed that Cassandra Jean Amell (Mad Men, One Tree Hill) will play a role in the crossover as Nora Fries, the wife of Mister Freeze. While there’s been no word on whether the classic Batman villain will be debuting this season, it seems Nora will be making an appearance.

Perhaps we’ll get her origin story in the crossover as well, or perhaps they’ll be setting her up as a potential villain for Ruby Rose’s Batwoman. Supergirl has often gone up against the female members of the Luthor family on her show, so perhaps we’ll see Nora don Freeze’s suit in Batwoman.

For anyone unaware, Cassandra is the wife of Stephen Amell and it’s not the first time that a member of the Amell family has played another character on the Arrowverse shows. Robbie Amell, Stephen’s cousin, played the first incarnation of Firestorm on Season 1 of The Flash. The two Amells got to team up in a minor crossover episode to take down Reverse Flash at the end of that season.

This surely won’t be the last piece of news teased for the Arrowverse crossover, and we’re very excited to see what comes next. Stay tuned to Movie News Net for more updates.
