Ray Fisher Confirms He’s Still Committed to Cyborg Role for DC Films

Cyborg DC
“The ride ain’t over yet!” Contrary to some speculation, Justice League actor Ray Fisher reveals that he is not going to stop playing the character of Victor Stone (AKA Cyborg) for DC Films.

As it’s been known for a while, last year’s second major DC Films release of Justice League is a project that was heavily altered in post-production due to studio interference and the departure of director Zack Snyder due to a family tragedy. As a result of the many changes, Cyborg’s character arc was originally significantly different, as his motivation to save the world really came into focus once his father, Silas Stone, was killed by Steppenwolf and his Parademons. (Fun fact: the ending monologue that Lois Lane gives was originally delivered by Silas on a pre-recorded tape left for his son.)

Fisher has been very proactive in supporting the original version of the film (though not to the point of disparaging the version released theatrically), and some speculated that with Snyder having a significantly-reduced role in DC Films going forward (he has an executive producer’s credit on Aquaman and a producer’s credit on Wonder Woman 1984), Fisher may leave. This certainly wasn’t helped when he shared a vague poem on Twitter that ends on a note of learning from saying “goodbye”:

A few days after sharing this post, Fisher added a new response saying that he has no plans of quitting, reaffirming his commitment with his signature “#BORGLIFE”:

Another crisis averted for DC Films, it seems. So far the film division’s PR has become a lot better than it did prior to 2017, but right now it’s important for the company to not only establish goodwill, but to ensure that the new movies that are released will result in better profits and more positive critical reception than prior efforts.

Cyborg movie is in development for DC Films, but word is suggesting that it is not a priority for the studio and no creative team has been assigned to the project. Indeed, Cyborg having a prominent role in Doom Patrol is generally a sign that there aren’t any huge plans for the character on the big screen right now. However, Fisher’s Cyborg will likely appear in other movies to help reiterate that most of the films produced by DC going forward will be set in one continuity (with the Joker movie being the only significant exception that we know about).
