Lewis Tan Met With DC Films; Actor Addresses ‘Nightwing’ Rumors

Into the Badlands actor Lewis Tan previously made a name for himself for AMC’s martial-arts series, so it’s not surprising to hear that he’s aiming to make a name for himself in the realm of film as well with his brief supporting role in Deadpool 2 as Shatterstar (a role he’s hinted he’ll reprise in X-Force). Now, news is out that he’s talked with DC Films for a future role, but while many fans have him pegged to play Nightwing, Tan has indicated that it may not be the case.

Last month, Tan revealed this image of himself at DC’s headquarters:

Prior to this, he shared a fanmade mockup of what he might look like as Nightwing:

And a few days ago, That Hashtag Show managed to score an interview with the actor confirming that he indeed had discussions with DC Films, as he had hinted, and noted that he’d definitely be up for Chris McKay’s Nightwing:

“I know Chris McKay wants a martial artist, right, so that’s out there. He’s following me on Twitter, you know…there’s a lot of good juju vibes out there for that. Nothing that I can say that is confirmed. This is a project that he’s still developing and I sat down with DC, with some of the executives at DC, and they’re big fans, I’m a big fan, obviously… So we’re looking for the right thing and there were a lot of different talks and Nightwing was one of those that were mentioned, so we’ll see.”

However, Tan later clarified that the Nightwing talk was largely hypothetical on his part, and that nothing is confirmed:

It’s entirely possible that Tan could still be playing Nightwing, albeit in a different project; Birds of Prey, or whatever it ends up being called, seems like it could be a decent fit for the character, as that movie will feature Batman villain Harley Quinn and Batgirl. Hopefully, SDCC will clear up what the next big steps for DC Films will be.

Nightwing is in development at DC Films.
