Kevin Feige Confirms Doctor Strange Won’t Appear in Spider-Man: Far From Home
Spider-Man: Far From Home lead actor Tom Holland has explained that he’d like to work more with Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange when playing Peter Parker in a future standalone Spider-Man movie. However, it appears as though Far From Home won’t be that movie, according to producer Kevin Feige.
Holding an interview with Slashfilm, Feige opted not to be coy about Spider-Man: Far From Home and outright stated that Doctor Strange would not have an appearance in the film. Usually, Feige isn’t one to reveal things that could be considered spoilers, but here it’s abundantly clear that he doesn’t want anyone to get their hopes up.
Another thing of note is that Feige implied that the Sony Pictures-owned Spider-Man won’t be teaming up with another Marvel Studios superhero in this installment, even though earlier statements that were made implied that this would happen for every movie in this trilogy. This may be a case of Feige trying to keep the outcome of Avengers 4 a complete secret (to the best that he can actually do that with projects being unofficially revealed) or it may just be that this movie doesn’t need another superhero in its narrative. As production begins, we’ll likely get a better idea of what to expect.
Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released on July 5, 2019.
