New Poster For Damien Chazelle’s ‘First Man’

It’s been nearly 50 years since Neil Armstrong first landed on the moon. To commemorate the 49th anniversary on July 20th, Universal has released a brand new poster for First Man.

The first trailer for First Man was released a little over one month ago, but brand new poster was released this week to commemorate 49th anniversary of Neil Armstrong’s walk on the moon. Granted, this new poster isn’t quite as dynamic as the one that came before, but it serves as a good reminder that First Man will be released in just a few months.

Though the poster is quite simple, it is still an effective one. The astronaut suit seems to be dirty and beaten up, which I’m sure is a simple visual cue to indicate that getting it to the moon was no easy task. And placing it against a white background just makes the suit appear to be more prominent. It’s a clean, simple, and effective teaser poster.

Director Damien Chazelle is of course coming hot off the success of the Academy Award-winning La La Land, so we’ll see how much critical acclaim First Man can earn him. Based on the riveting first trailer, which displayed an excellent amount of tension and drama, First Man could already be a potential Oscar contender. Especially considering the script is written by Josh Singer, who won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Spotlight. And of course, I also look forward to seeing what Chazelle can do in a film that doesn’t involve music and jazz.

Ryan Gosling reteams with Chazelle to join a cast including Claire Foy, Kyle Chandler, Ciaran Hinds, and Corey Stoll.

First Man will premiere at the Venice Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival before coming to theaters on October 12.
