Angela Bassett Confirms More Survivors of Avengers: Infinity War

Angela Bassett Ramonda

In the wake of destruction left be Thanos and his minions in Avengers: Infinity War, there are many characters who have still been unaccounted for. Actress Angela Bassett was happy to clear up that mystery for a certain few characters this week. Consider this your spoiler warning!

While promoting her appearance as Erica Sloane in the upcoming Mission: Impossible- Fallout, Bassett was asked in an interview with ScreenRant if she thought her character Queen Ramonda had died at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, a detail not explicitly spelled out in the devastating “snap heard ’round the world”.

“No. Neither did my daughter. Shuri, she’s a bright girl there in Wakanda,” answered Bassett, referring to Ramonda’s daughter played by Letitia Wright.

This is good news for the denizens of the Marvel universe, since Thanos’s snap managed to destroy some heavy hitters, including Doctor Strange, Peter Parker, and Wakanda’s own King T’Challa, all of whom were mysteriously turned to ash near the film’s conclusion.

So far, we don’t know exactly what happened when Thanos snapped with the Infinity Gauntlet. There’s definitely the meta-argument to be made that the Marvel Cinematic Universe wouldn’t kill off  characters like Peter Parker or the near entirety of the Guardians of the Galaxy when more movies for them have already been confirmed to be coming, especially since earlier flagships of the franchise like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans can’t be expected to spearhead the MCU forever.

As of now, even with King T’Challa’s fate unclear, Wakanda seems to be in good hands with these two strong women. Honestly, even with a fully completed Infinity Gauntlet, I can see Thanos being worried going up against Shuri.

The much anticipated and as of yet untitled sequel to Avengers: Infinity War is coming to theaters May 3rd, 2019.
