Netflix Releases ‘Over The Moon’ Trailer

Fei Fei and her rabbit from Over The Moon

Netflix has released a trailer for Over The Moon, an animated feature film from legendary Disney animator Glen Keane.

Over The Moon is a tale about a young girl called Fei Fei who sets out to prove an ancient Chinese legend about a moon goddess is real. The tale goes that the goddess was separated from her lover and has been waiting on the Moon for him ever since. She builds a rocket and discovers an entire civilisation among the stars.

Glen Keane has worked on many classic Disney films, including Pocahontas, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Tarzan and Tangled, and recently won an Oscar for his short film Dear Basketball.

His latest entry certainly looks like it could be a Disney film from a character design perspective. It also seems like family plays an important role in this story, a common theme throughout every classic Disney film, as Fei Fei tries to make her father believe in the ancient legend once more, like he did when he was a child.

Netflix have also released a pretty inspiring poster that seems to sum up the tone of the film rather well.

Over The Moon was written by Audrey Wells and stars Cathy Ang as Fei Fei. Ang is joined by Phillipa Soo, Robert G. Chiu, Ken Jeong, and John Cho. As the trailer hints, it is also a musical scored by Christopher Curtis, Marjorie Duffield, and Helen Park.

There’s no exact release date just yet, but Netflix currently says it will arrive on the streaming mammoth in Autumn 2020.
