Zoë Kravitz’s Directorial Debut Retitled ‘Blink Twice’, Lands Summer 2024 Date

Zoe Kravitz's directorial debut retitled Blink Twice

You may have heard of Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut Pussy Island. Well, that eye-grabbing title is no more, as the marketing department of Amazon MGM Studios was apparently too scared to use it. Instead, it’ll be named Blink Twice.

The film, according to Deadline, has landed an August 23 release date by the studio. Kravitz directs from a script she co-wrote with E.T. Feigenbaum. This is the synopsis, according to the trade:

“Tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) meets cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) at his fundraising gala, and sparks fly. He invites her to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his private island. It’s paradise. Wild nights blend into sun-soaked days and everyone’s having a great time. No one wants this trip to end, but as strange things start to happen, Frida begins to question her reality. There is something wrong with this place. She’ll have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out of this party alive.”

The cast also includes Alia Shawkat, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Christian Slater, Kyle MacLachlan, and Geena Davis. Kravitz, Bruce Cohen, Tiffany Persons, and Garret Levitz are producing.

Blink Twice will go up against Sony’s subsidiary Affirm Films’ The Forge, but comes out one week after 20th Century’s Alien: Romulus and a week before Sony’s Kraven the Hunter. Will it be able to play as counter-programming to two semi-big tentpoles? This being Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut it’s unlikely the budget will be too irresponsible.
