‘The Last of Us’ Season 2: Young Macino To Play Jesse
Casting for key roles on The Last of Us season 2 continues. HBO just confirmed that Young Macino will be playing Jesse in the second season of the series, which is set to go into production on February 9.
The announcement was made a day after the network confirmed reports of Kaitlyn Dever starring as Abby. Jesse and Abby are two of the three main roles co-showrunners Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin had to fill, with only Dina (Ellie’s love interest) remaining. They said in a statement:
“Young is one of those rare actors who is immediately undeniable the moment you see him. We’re so lucky to have him, and we can’t wait for the audience to see Young shine in our show.”
Mazino starred in last year’s Beef, on Netflix. Stephen Chang played the character in The Last of Us Part II video game.
The Last of Us season 2 is aiming for a 2025 release date. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are returning as Joel and Ellie; Gabriel Luna is also expected to reprise his role as Tommy.
