The White Lotus

HBO announced on Friday the first wave of actors that will join Natasha Rothwell in the third season of The White Lotus as new guests of the luxury hotel. They are Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, and Tayme Thapthimthong.

Rothwell is returning to her season 1 role as Belinda, the masseuse who treated Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya. Mike White is also back as sole writer-director of the third season, which will be filmed and set in Thailand. HBO announced plans to start shooting in February in Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok.

According to Deadline, more actors are also in the final rounds of negotiations. TheInSneider.com broke the news last night that The Leftovers and The Gilded Age star Carrie Coon is in talks to star. That report came out a few hours after the gossip site Deuxmoi posted a story on Instagram revealing the full cast, which included Coon, the names HBO confirmed today, and a few others: Walton Goggins, Woody Harrelson, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sam Nivola, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Aime Lou Wood. Their list did not include Hetrakul or Thapthimthong.

Character details are kept tightly under wraps, but according to Deadline, it will include “a patriarch, a female corporate executive, an actress, a couple of mothers, including a country club wife, a misfit, and a yogi.” It is said to explore “death in Eastern religion and spirituality.” White said the following about the new season:

“It’s going to be a supersized White Lotus. It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier. I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that’s a good thing.”

The second season of The White Lotus is currently up for 23 Emmys, including Best Drama Series. Season 3 is set to premiere on the network in 2025, along with The Last of Us season 2, also set to start shooting in February.
