Amy Adams To Headline and Executive Produce New Limited Series ‘The Holdout’, Multiple Bidders Interested

Amy Adams

Six-time Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams will star in and executive produce the upcoming series The Holdout, according to a new report from Deadline.

The series, which hails from Oscar-winning screenwriter Graham Moore (The Imitation Game) and is based on his own novel of the same name, is currently in the middle of a bidding war, with multiple parties interested, according to the trade. No specifics were given, but the three big streamers, HBO (which produced Adams’ previous TV venture, Sharp Objects, and has a history of developing projects similar to this one), Netflix (which is everywhere in these bidding wars), and Prime Video (which is trying to diversify its portfolio as much as possible) certainly have to be in the middle.

Adams executive produces through her Bond Group Entertainment banner, along with Drew Comins via Creative Engine, and Fifth Season (the Graham Taylor and Chris Rice-run, Endeavor-owned producer-distributor was announced today to have a new partnership with Japanese studio Toho, which acquired 25% of its stake). The actress’ production company had signed a first-look deal with Fifth Season, which this new show may be under.

The story is a legal drama turned into a murder investigation. It follows Maya Seale (Adams) ten years after she was the deciding vote on a controversial verdict when a former fellow juror is found dead, with all evidence pointing to her. The secrets of what happened back then start to come out as the rest of the jury opens up about their experiences during the present-day investigation.

No production schedule has been given, but Amy Adams doesn’t have a ton of stuff in the pipeline. Her upcoming film Nightbitch, from writer-director Marielle Heller, is in post, and she’s also attached to star in the upcoming FilmNation comedy The Invite, based on the Spanish pic Sentimental, from the Little Miss Sunshine duo Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris.
