‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ Trailer Showcases A Lot of CG Monster Fights Coming April 2024

Godzilla x Kong

Warner Bros. finally unveiled their first look at the upcoming event film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which has gone under most people’s radars ever since it started shooting last year. But the film is deep in post and four months away from coming out in theaters, so let’s get ready for some monster fights!

The trailer does tease some resemblance of a story, as Kong faces a new threat and perhaps needs the help of Godzilla to fend it off. But who really cares, you’re here to see a lot of 0’s and 1’s go at it against each other, so let’s just shove some popcorn down our throats and enjoy the silliness:

Adam Wingard is returning to direct after the unexpected success of 2021’s Godzilla v Kong, and the cast this time includes Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns, and Fala Chen. The screenwriters are Terry Rossio, Simon Barrett, and Jeremy Slater.

Here is the official synopsis for the film:

“The epic battle continues! Legendary Pictures’ cinematic Monsterverse follows up the explosive showdown of ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ with an all-new adventure that pits the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence—and our own. ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ delves further into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”

The first poster has also been revealed:

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is slated to come out on April 12, 2024. Notably, though, studios are a bit coy about showing release dates in their trailers lately, which is why you have to dig through the YouTube descriptions to find out about them.

The trailer is also pertinent these days, as Apple TV Plus is in the middle of airing Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which ties into the continuity of the movies — not that they really care about that stuff. Check out my review of the show here.
