‘Deadpool 3’: Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic Returning as Vanessa and Colossus

Deadpool 3

With production on Deadpool 3 only weeks away from starting, the film is adding more and more people to its cast list.

The latest two additions are Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic, both reprising their roles from the previous two films as Vanessa and Colossus, according to Deadline. They join Ryan Reynolds as the titular character, Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine, Emma Corrin in an undisclosed villain role, Matthew Macfadyen, and recently-confirmed Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams as Dopinder and Blind Al, respectively. It is currently unknown (though expected) whether Brianna Hildebrand and Josh Brolin will be returning as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Cable, respectively. Zazie Beetz has long been rumored to be coming back as Domino too.

While official details about the film remain under wraps, a few rumors suggest it will take place in the aftermath of the post-credits scene of Deadpool 2, which had Wade Wilson going back in time to course-correct some of his biggest mistakes, from saving Vanessa from dying early on in the film to breaking the fourth wall and killing off a past version of Reynolds after he landed the Green Lantern gig for DC. Apparently, the TVA — introduced in 2021’s Loki series — won’t be happy about this and will chase Deadpool across the multiverse. But how Wolverine, the rest of the returning cast, and the MCU as a whole factor into the plot, remains unknown. Owen Wilson is expected to come back as Agent Mobius, while Macfadyen is speculated to be playing another TVA agent.

Shawn Levy is stepping in to direct Deadpool 3, with regular writers Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese penning the latest iteration of the script along with The Marvels co-writer Zeb Wells. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin wrote the first version. The movie will be the first R-rated film set in the MCU, which will surely represent a marketing challenge for the Mouse House, and is expected to play a major role in the overarching storyline of the ongoing Multiverse Saga.

Deadpool 3 is currently targeting a November 8, 2024, release date, although as with everything Marvel Studios in recent times, that is subject to change.
