‘The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’ Announces Christmas Is Coming With First Trailer
Exactly one month before the next Disney Plus Special Presentation is set to debut on the platform, the company has revealed the first trailer. This is of course James Gunn’s The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which will serve as an appetizer of sorts for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Gunn shot the special while the crew was in production for Vol. 3 earlier this year. In the true spirit of a Christmas movie, it features the Guardians crew trying to lift Star-Lord’s spirit by giving him the Christmas he so desperately wants. They set out to find Kevin Bacon, Quill’s ultimate hero on Earth, though they find a rather reluctant person when they are finally able to track him down. Rumors of Bacon appearing in the Special have been circulating for months, though this is the first time they’ve been confirmed. Another possible rumor also has Mark Hamill appearing as Santa Claus himself, though we shall see if that’s the case.
The set where we see Drax and Mantis finally locate Kevin Bacon seems to be the same one that appeared in the leaked set photos from a few months ago. Flipped police cars were also seen on the scene, indicating that we should expect some sort of big action set piece to happen there.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will premiere on Disney Plus on November 25. The entire cast, except for Zoe Saldaña as Gamora, is expected to return. Even Michael Rooker, who played Yondu in the first two Guardians movies, is coming back despite his character’s death in Vol. 2. Gunn wrote and directed the feature, which he’s described time and again as the best thing he’s ever made. (He also used those words to refer to The Suicide Squad a year ago.)
