Creed III

Michael B. Jordan is directing and starring in Creed III, which will be released in March 2023.

Sylvester Stallone will not be reprising the role of Rocky Balboa in the new installment, which will see the return of Tessa Thompson as Creed’s girlfriend Bianca. In a press conference that The Wrap attended, Jordan explained his decision to direct the movie as follows:

“At 35-years-old, I had a lot to say as a young Black man. It was the right time.

I’ve been watching, putting together decks and folders over time,” Jordan said. “Everything was lining up perfectly for this opportunity.”

He added that directing scenes in which he also acted was “low-key torture” but ultimately “fun” — it was the multitasking nature of the job that called him to it. He also referred to Majors’ character as the “antagonist” of the film, but not the villain, adding: “We’re very lucky and blessed to have him.”

Creed III will debut in theaters on March 3, 2023.
