Aubrey Plaza Cast in Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘Megalopolis’

Aubrey Plaza

Probably one of the most overlooked actresses of the past decade, Aubrey Plaza may have landed the biggest role in her career yet.

According to Deadline, the Parks and Recreation and Ingrid Goes West star has been cast in the upcoming Megalopolis, Francis Ford Coppola’s new movie that he’s self-financing, writing, and directing. Plaza joins a stacked cast that includes Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, and Laurence Fishburne. Coppola himself has described the project as follows:

“The fate of Rome haunts a modern world unable to solve its own social problems in this epic story of political ambition, genius, and conflicted love.”

Production is set to begin this fall. Aubrey Plaza just saw the release of the film Emily the Criminal, a very well-received Sundance hit that may contain Plaza’s best performance yet, according to critics. She will next be seen in the second season of the critically acclaimed anthology series The White Lotus, on HBO.

More casting news from Megalopolis is expected to come in over the next few months. Actors all over Hollywood have been lining up for years to get Coppola’s attention for his dream project, which might also be his last. Stay tuned.
