Marvel Studios News: ‘Ironheart’ Casts Alden Ehrenreich, Hailee Steinfeld Coming Back for Future Projects, and More

Alden Ehrenreich joins Marvel Studios' Ironheart

On the days when Marvel Studios is wrapping up its new series Ms. Marvel, and has released its latest movie, Thor: Love and Thunder, a lot of news have come out about future projects. Let’s round them up!

Ironheart

We start off with Ironheart, the new series starring Dominique Thorne that started filming last month in Atlanta, and whose cast keeps expanding. Deadline is reporting that Solo: A Star Wars Story lead actor Alden Ehrenreich is joining the series in an undisclosed, but key role. The actor has finally been getting some work in the past year, after he got a role in the new Christopher Nolan movie Oppenheimer, which just wrapped.

Some are already speculating that he could be playing Ezekiel Stane, the son of Jeff Bridges’ character in Iron Man. Another possibility is that he could be playing the villain, which is rumored to be The Hood, though there’s some speculation that Anthony Ramos will actually be playing that character.

A picture from the set has also leaked online shortly before the news dropped, showing Thorne on her way to work:

The character will first appear in the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and we may have just had our first look at what her costume will look like through some merch leaks from that movie. If you are interested, you can check it out here, but we won’t post the pictures for those of our readers who would like to stay in the dark.

Hailee Steinfeld Signed on for Future Projects

Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop in Hawkeye

Hidden in a report from Variety about Marvel’s Emmy nominations (the studio earned 19 nods between Loki, Moon Knight, Hawkeye, and What If…?), there is a line saying that Hawkeye co-star Hailee Steinfeld, who portrayed Kate Bishop in the series, will be coming back for future MCU entries:

“[…] sources say that there are plans for Steinfeld to reprise the role of Kate Bishop in other MCU projects going forward.”

There have been rumors of a Young Avengers project for a while, and with Kate Bishop, Ms. Marvel, América Chávez, and now Ironheart entering the MCU, it seems more likely than ever before. We might get some updates on this in the next couple of months, whether it’s at San Diego Comic-Con next week, or at D23 in September.

Ryan Gosling is rumored to be joining the MCU

Ryan Gosling is rumored to be in talks with Marvel Studios for an unknown role

While there’s been speculation about Gosling joining a Marvel project for years (the actor was even thought of appearing in Thor: Love and Thunder after he was photographed with Taika Waititi in 2019), it seems like it could be happening now. Of course, nothing is official until it’s announced by Kevin Feige, but two separate scoopers are now saying that this is happening. Twitter account deuxmoi posted a few days ago about Gosling joining an MCU project that will film next year. This account was spot on earlier this year when they reported that Jude Law would be joining an upcoming Star Wars series. Insider Daniel Richtman backed up the claim earlier this week.

There have been rumors lately of Gosling possibly playing Nova in the series from Marvel Studios that will reportedly go into production next year. However, the actor apparently denied any veracity to those rumors in an interview with Josh Horowitz that is yet to be released, and said that the one superhero he’d love to play is actually Ghost Rider. Whether or not he gets to play that role, we’ll have to wait and see, but it’s definitely an exciting nugget to keep in mind.

Stay tuned for more news from Marvel Studios, and make sure to check out our review of the Ms. Marvel finale later this week!
