‘Better Call Saul’ Final Season Confirmed to Bring Back Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston

Better Call Saul will officially bring back Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston as Jesse Pinkman and Walter White.

This was officially confirmed by Better Call Saul executive producer Peter Gould during a panel at PaleyFest LA. He said:

“I don’t want to spoil things for the audience, but I will say the first question we had when we started the show was, ‘Are we gonna see Walt and Jesse on the show?’ Instead of evading, I’ll just say yeah. How or the circumstances or anything, you’ll just have to discover that for yourself, but I have to say that’s one of many things that I think you’ll discover this season.”

Bob Odenkirk then teased that there’s more to the headline, saying “If you can believe it, there’s more,” though he was immediately cut off by Gould. While there have been many cameos from Breaking Bad secondary actors, the spin-off series has always stayed away from the big stars of Breaking Bad. That makes sense if we consider the timeline in which the prequel takes place, but apparently, the writers have some big plans.

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan told Variety the following:

“These two worlds cross over in a way that you haven’t seen before, that’s for sure. It would be a damn shame if the show ended without [Cranston and Paul] appearing, would it not?”

Odenkirk also said the following during Thursday’s red carpet:

“I personally feel that the two shows — ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul’ — are entwined even more than ever in the final season. And I think that’s surprising and cool, and it’s gonna make you want to watch ‘Breaking Bad’ again.”

During the panel, it was also confirmed that cast members Rhea Seehorn and Giancarlo Esposito will direct the fourth and sixth episodes of the new season of Better Call Saul. The sixth and final entry in the spin-off series will start airing on April 18 on AMC.
