‘Ms. Marvel’ Releases First Trailer, Show to Premiere on June 8

Ms Marvel

Marvel Studios has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Ms. Marvel live-action series for Disney Plus.

The new trailer offers us the best look yet at Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, including a very uniquely styled first minute. Check it out below:

The trailer came along with the announcement that the show will premiere on Disney Plus on June 8th. Prior to the announcement, there was some speculation that the show would come out in June, as news came out last week that the red carpet will happen on June 2nd. This date is also very interesting, as it means the show will debut its first episode the same day the Obi-Wan Kenobi show for Lucasfilm premieres its third chapter, so Disney Plus will have a Marvel and a Star Wars show running concurrently for four weeks.

Marvel Studios has also released the official poster for the series:

Today’s trailer is not the first look we’ve had at the series. Ms. Marvel began shooting in late 2020, and during Disney’s Investor Day in December 2020, Kevin Feige already introduced us to a behind-the-scenes look at the show, which included a few seconds of actual footage. Then, in November 2021, during Disney Plus Day, Marvel Studios also dropped another thirty-second ad exclusively for Disney Plus subscribers.

Kamala Khan is Marvel Studios’ first Muslim superhero, and as we see in the trailer, religion will play at least a small part in the show. As it’s apparent from the trailer and the character’s costume, she idolizes Captain Marvel. It is unknown whether this character will appear in the series, but we do know that Khan will be appearing in The Marvels when it debuts in theaters next year.

The cast also includes newcomer Saagar Shaikh as Kamala’s older brother Aamir, Mohan Kapur and Zenobia Shroff as her parents Muneeba and Yusuf, Matt Lintz as her best friend Bruno, Zoe Zimmer as a classmate of Kamala’s, and Aramis Knight as the vigilante known as Red Dagger.

Bisha K. Ali serves as executive producer and head writer, with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Meera Menon, and Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah handling directing duties. The first season will have six episodes.
