‘The Batman’, ‘Black Adam’, ‘The Flash’, and ‘Aquaman 2’ All Showcased in DC Films Preview

DC Films
2022 is shaping up to be the biggest year for DC Films yet, following the successful release of Peacemaker and the imminent arrival of The Batman. A new preview showcases footage from the Robert Pattinson-led standalone film, along with the next three installments of the DC Extended Universe: Black AdamThe Flash, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Instead of airing an expensive TV spot at the Super Bowl, which they usually skip, Warner Brothers has opted to use the lead-in to the weekend of the big football game to grab headlines for their upcoming slate of DC Films projects by doing a big ad two days before the big event. The spot, which runs for a full minute, is to highlight their “Earth-1” cinematic setting – informally referred to as the DCEU – and their “Earth-2” cinematic setting, which so far has a focus on Batman characters despite hinting at possible connections to a larger DC Universe separate from the DCEU. You can watch the new ad below:

Aside from these projects, 2022 will also see the theatrical release of the animated film DC League of Super-Pets and the first HBO Max DCEU film Batgirl, spinning off from the events of The Flash. A boatload of DC Films-produced projects for both Earth-1 and Earth-2 are in development, with several projects in development for theaters and HBO Max (including, but not limited to, Shazam!: Fury of the Gods, Green Lantern Corps, Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Zatanna, Static, and Wonder Woman 3), and two Batman sequels and at least two HBO Max shows (Gotham PD and The Penguin) in development for the latter. Other standalone projects not tied to shared universes, such as a sequel to Joker and a period piece film starring an African-American version of the Superman character, are also in the pipeline.

The Batman will release on March 4, 2022. Black Adam will release on July 29, 2022. The Flash will release on November 4, 2022. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will release on December 16, 2022.
