New ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Clips Arrive

Justice League

Just in time for the Super Bowl, Zack Snyder’s Justice League gets some short clips teasing the imminent arrival of the four-hour version of the first cinematic team-up of DC’s biggest superheroes. While one is pretty familiar to those who own the Blu-ray of the 2017 theatrical release, the other is entirely new, and quite fittingly revolves around pigskin.

First up is a clip that was previously revealed, but not in high definition. It’s a take of the scene where Superman heads off to meet Alfred Pennyworth before finding out where he can intercept the final battle. Check it out below:

A version of this clip, featuring Superman in his original costume (the red, blue, and yellow costume that was filmed was digitally changed to silver and black in the Zack Snyder’s Justice League iteration of the project, as originally planned), was released on the Blu-ray of the the 2017 iteration of the movie as one of the only two deleted scenes that didn’t make it into the film. The first half of the scene appears to have been entirely shot by Zack Snyder (note the absence of awkward digital effects over Henry Cavill’s upper lip erasing a mustache that he grew, and couldn’t shave, during the reshoots), so it may appear in his four-hour director’s cut. Aside from the scene above, the shot of Superman emerging from the spaceship is confirmed to be in. Check it out below if you need a refresher:

But we digress. There’s a second new clip from the movie that we’re just now seeing, in full, for the first time: a portion of Victor Stone’s football game that precedes his transformation into Cyborg. The clip also includes a snippet of Junkie XL’s new score, from the sound of things. Check it out below:

The full trailer is set to drop on February 14, at which point the marketing for the film will kick in in earnest. So far, HBO Max has kept things close to their vest on this project, but considering the money that went into it, a more robust marketing campaign will likely happen from that point on.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League will release on HBO Max on March 18, 2021. In addition, Snyder claims that he’s making a black-and-white edit of the movie, and he has plans to release the finished movie in IMAX theaters if possible.
